Campaign Story
Hello to anyone this campaign fund reaches! Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Allow me to introduce you to my family. My name is Morgan Cornell (30) and my husband’s name is Tyler Cornell (29) We are blessed with a remarkable 2-year-old son named Rory who brings so much light and love into our world.
The backstory on how our journey started is as follows.
From an early age (about 12 months) we took notice of some developmental delays with our son. He is non-verbal and functions at a lower capacity than children his age.
After jumping through hoops and hurdles with countless Drs. We officially got the diagnosis that Rory has Autism and a Global Delay. (May of 2023)
We were then referred to a Genetic Counselor for gene testing to see if there was an underlying cause for Rory’s condition. (January 2024)
Unfortunately testing came back positive for a genetic chromosome disorder labeled as NRNX1 mutation
Our Counselor then encouraged us both to be tested to see if it was an inherited condition… Our results recently came back, and the verdict is in. My husband is a carrier of the chromosomal disorder.
We now have a 50/50 chance of having another child with possibly more severe symptoms.
Including Epilepsy, severe mental disabilities, Autism, ADHD, Hypotonia, speech and language difficulties, mood disorders and schizophrenia
((UPDATE))
Before we start this process our fertility Dr urged us to get further genetic testing to see if either my husband or I carry any more genetic conditions.
Unfortunately, my husbands results came and he is a high risk carrier for Cystic Fibrosis.
With having this information in our hands and seeing how it has affected our son. We in our hearts can’t have another child naturally not knowing what their future and fate may entail because of our doing.
With that all being said, we have decided to move forward and pursue (IVF PGT-A) as our route of conception. Going about it this way will allow specialists to (in short terms) place healthy embryos and eliminate the chance of passing on the gene disorder.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading our story.
As we all know IVF is costly, and with my son needing round the clock care. I’m his primary caregiver, which leaves my husband as the sole provider for our family.
We can see that our son gets lonely at times and we wish more than anything that we can provide him with a sibling and complete the final piece to our family puzzle.
If you would like to help us make that a reality, we appreciate you and your act of kindness in one of our darkest times.
Truly yours,
The Cornell Family
